Ready Player One by Ernest Cline is one of my favorite book adaptations for the big screen. The book and the movie have so many small differences, that you will still be surprised by either one. I understand that Stephen Spielberg wanted all of his stuff to be in the movie, so he took out a lot from the book, but it still made the movie pretty cool.
In the book, there is a lot more details about Wade Watts every day life. He goes to school, which is not shown in the movie at all. While the real world is crumbling around them, the human race has come to the OASIS as an escape. A place where they can be whatever or whoever they want to be. The virtual reality world is proffered over the mundane lives in an almost post-apocalyptic world.
I really like all the 80's references, being an 80's baby. This book has a lot of people who say they did not like it, but the puzzled and excitement to find the key at the end is what kept my interest. There's a little bit for everyone, adventure, romance, and action. In the end I was wanting more, and now I have that, I need to read Ready Player 2 soon...
