by Simone St. James

Going into The Book of Cold Cases, I really didn't know much about the book. I got it as my BOTM last year and it sat on my TBR for a long time. Honestly, It would probably still be sitting there if I didn't have my Instagram followers choose my next read. But it was a pleasant surprise! I really enjoyed this novel, and look forward to more from Simone St. James in the future.

Shea Collins is a crime blogger, who researches crimes, but it is not her full time job, more like a hobby. One day, while working as a doctors office receptionist, she sees Beth Greer sitting in the lobby. The same Beth Greer who was accused of murdering two men in the 70's. Beth was acquitted but people in the town of Claire Lake believed her to still be the murderer.

The characters are all really enjoyable, one of my favorite's was Michael, the PI that Shea has hired to help her research for her stories. Over the course of the book you see Michael as someone who just really cares about Shea, and you hope they end up together in the end. I like that there is some sense of a romance without being too over the top!

The novel is from Beth and Shea's point of views, going back and forth between years. I really enjoyed the different POVs and even the time line's were interesting. We learned the true story while Shea was learning it for her blog. There were twisty turns that I wasn't expecting, and the way the book broke up into 2 parts was really cool.

In the end, will Shea get the truth for her story? Will Beth prove to the world that she did not kill those men?
